Default Starbucks could be in trouble for not being green enough

I heard a while back that Starbucks could be in trouble for not being green enough. It had something to do with not recycling enough, but I haven't heard anything since then.

Does anyone know what ended up happening to them, if they got in trouble or not?

Well starbucks always seem to give themselves a "world-friendly" impression
They always tell how they support fair trade, how their beans are grown in poor countries by farmers, and they get paid good money for it.
I never hear much on their recycling policies though, though really, most companies aren't very eco-friendly, so I doubt starbucks will be in much trouble

The last thing starbucks will be in trouble for is an eco-problem. They take steps to solve this with allowing you to bring in your own cup. I think they even give a discount when doing this now. My parents are avid coffee drinkers & bring in their own cup. Helps save some wood bi-product.

I don't think this is something that will effect them. I think their real problems will be purely financial, as most people just can't afford to pay their prices any longer. I haven't heard anything about environmental implications, and I was always under the impression that they did a bit to recycle their cups and such. I could be wrong, however.

Starbucks was being criticized recently for their policy of leaving the tap running non-stop in all their outlets worldwide. People were commenting that its a great wastage of precious resources and an unenvironmental-friendly action. Their reason for doing this was because of hygiene purposes. They said that the running water (dipper well) will prevent the breeding of germs and bacteria on their utensils.
I think they have replaced the dipper well with something more environmentally friendly now...

Starbucks troubles have nothing to do with it not being green enough, and everything to do with overpopulating the planet with their stores. Maybe that works into the not green enough idea, since we have all that time and material going into stores that they never needed to open in the first place. I would guess the green thing might have to do with how the coffee beans are collected, since coffee producing countries like Colombia are really destroying the environment with the way they harvest the beans -- and I'm sure Starbucks is making money off of this -- we just had a coffee store open up around here called Fair Trade Coffee, you should check it out.

Starbucks is also falling hard economically too - but what company is not falling economically in these hard times. I remember reading a few months back that Starbucks was closing something like five-hundred stores throughout the United States of America.

Does anyone actually enjoy the overprices coffee at starbucks - or is it just me that is not willing to pay $4 for a cup of coffee?
