Simple ways to help the environment

Many people believe that it will be up to the environmentalists to save the environment. This is certainly wrong as everyone has a part to play to help to preserve the environment for future generations.

Remember that everything begins with me and small things like not wasting water, taking the bus instead of the car etc etc and minor adjustments to life will be in small ways contribute to the worthy environment cause.

I have to agree that everyone should try to contribute to the environment. Small things like using environmentally friendly products, saving water, and planting trees can help the environment a lot. However it will not be effective unless done by a lot of people. The reason why humans are polluting Earth is because only a small percentage of us actually care about the environment and our efforts are not enough.

Some simple ways to help the environment are:
-Switch as many bulbs as possible in your home to compact fluorescent bulbs.
-Plant trees in your yard and community.
-Replace your single-paned windows with double-pane windows.
-Turn off lights and electronic devices when you’re not using them.
-Use solar energy to dry your clothes!
-Start using solar energy products(such as solar water heater, etc)

Yeah you are right it is everones duty to save the environment... We can do that by planting few plants, not wasting water, recycling the waste.. and youngsters can go cycling instead of using vehicle. In China most of them use cycles if they have to travel.. So its up to us how we maintain our environment...

Here is my two cents.

If it's a little chilly grab a throw blanket instead of cranking up the heat.
Make sure there are no gaps in your windows and doors so the cold air doesn't leak through.
Turn lights and appliances off when you don't need them.
If you don't have far to go try walking or riding a bike, weather permitting of course.
Try carpooling to work or other group activities.
Wash you dishes by hand instead of using a dish washer.
Use hand towels instead of paper towels.

I think one of the number of ways to save the environment is to buy a bike or start walking, this is especially true for Americans that live in sprawling cities and don't like taking the bus, or the bus doesn't even run from the burbs. So yes, there are very tiny things you can do like changing your light bulbs, recycling, but if you want real results we're going to have to stop putting pollutants into the air.

Indeed, simple lifestyle changes would go a long way. But passing laws to facilitate these changes becomes imperative at times. Like we have cities and states enforcing a legislation for vehicles to use compressed natural gas as fuel instead of petroleum. And there are cities enforcing a ban on polythene, which is non-biodegradable. Although I am sure nobody minds contributing his bit to save the environment, but all in all, these laws do provide the push for us to get into the act. Incentives like monetary ones for using environment-friendly vehicles also help.

As Barack Obama said, big changes can only come from the bottom; not from the top. Each one on the planet has to be responsible for his or her actions and do the needy to keep the planet in pristine condition for the generations to come. This is the duty of us to our kids and their kids.

Anyone think he was just one of billions, and how exactly it would help the world? But remember that each person is a screw, and every screw helps the largest contributor to act.
I save on electricity and especially in water, and hope that all humans understand that it's important for the future.

I guess, the simple ways to help our environment is to start it from home. Use environment friendly cleaners, so try not to spray harmful chemicals into our environment this includes perfumes, smoke belchers, etc. Also check faucet every time if there's a sign of leakage and repair it right away, use light savers or energy savers, don't leave the light on when not using it. Plant trees, or if you're unable to do so, grow a garden and don't use pesticides on it. Also recycle plastics and segregate the trash.

Honestly, I don't waste electricity or Fuels. I think the simple ways are to tell your friends easy things to do, and encourage them to do the same.

Unplug unused appliances and chargers, many of these draw electricity even if they're off.

Don't buy bottled water... its processing causes lots of pollution.

When not in use switch off the monitor of the PC. the monitor consumes 80% of the energy used by the PC!!

Indeed. Everyone has a part to play and the little difference in which a person makes in his/her life may add up and this may result in a big difference made to the world.
Little gestures and actions like switching off the light and power may make a huge different to the environment. So lets start now! Save water, use less electricity, take public transport , recycle those recyclable products and help to cut down on wastage.

The trick to saving the environment is to remember the three Rs.. REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE. And remember them in that order

REDUCE- Reduce the amount of packaging you consume, don't buy things in individual package. Don't buy prepared foods. Bring your own bags to the grocery store. Use less gas, electricity, and water.

Reuse- If you do get a "disposable" item, then reuse it. Reuse your packaging materials and boxes, use your newspapers instead of papertowels to wash your windows. Reuse your deli tubs. Wash out your ziplock bags and use them until they are no longer usable!

Recycle- When you have gotten all possible use out of an item, then recycle it. Recycling does not just mean what you send to the recycle center. You can also recycle your water by using dishwater to pour on your lawn, and making sure you have a compost pile.

I agree also, if we all just pitched in and just did a little bit our world would be a whole lot cleaner. Try to recycle more, try to walk to more places, don't litter find a trashcan. All of these little things could end up making a big difference later!

i agree with the suggestions that are being given here to help our environment in simple ways. but we need to do or follow what we say that we intend to do since all suggestions here will just go to waste. we really need to make a conscious effort to help our environment in order for us to save it.

at individual level, planting not much but 1 plant every year would be enough. apart from this, watering the plants would also help the environment
