I think people should be more accountable for their actions. If they are just throwing things away for the sake of being lazy, then shame on them. However, some people do not know hardly anything about the environment. I do believe that our environment is in some type of danger, and we need help with it. People should be more educated about what is really going on with it.

Tell me about it I get so irritated when I see kids and adults throw stuff on the ground or in the river, ocean, etc. I have a 4 year old and I teach him to put his candy wrapper in his pocket and not to just casually toss it.
What really gets me is when people do it in nature where there isn't an employee or someone else who will pick it up. I like to camp and we go to areas that aren't designated campgrounds and it irritates me to see them full of garbage! |

I do have kids also, and as much as possible when we're out strolling in parks and malls, I always tell them to throw the trash to designated trash bins. Telling them at an early age would be good for them, it will be ingrained in their minds that garbage needs to be thrown in the can and not just anywhere. This way, they have an early education on taking care and keeping the environment clean, they would grow up doing that also. It's just a matter of educating them at an early age.

Yeah, I agree that kids needs to learn the value of keeping the environment clean at an early age. So that when they grow up its already instilled in their minds. Such as, that garbage needs to be thrown in the trash can and not anywhere. They would also know that it's bad to throw garbage in rivers or lakes, when they see it flashed in tv. Kids have a sharp mind that can immediately take in what they are told and would certainly do it also if you let them understand why they have to do such. Kids nowadays are bright and their minds develop faster.

How can adults teach their kids when they have no knowledge of what is necessary to save the environment themselves. There has to be more education on a mass scale for this to become a regular topic in homes, and that will take government interference in those countries that don't already have it.

yeah, i agree that children needs to know the value of the environment at a young age, that way they'll have a different view and respect for the environment when they grow up. when they are aware of the causes of environmental degradation they can inform their peers about it and others will follow their example.
