How can we lessen deforestation - Start planting trees to replace the loss

If we can't stop deforestation, how about lessening it.
I've read an article that carbon market and carbon offsetting should be ruled out. And illegal logging should be tackle.
And as an ordinary citizen, we can start planting trees to replace the loss for a greener future.

I think the solution is not lessening deforestation as you put it...but increasing afforestation! Its hard to reduce dependency on trees as they are among the most important natural resources..plus, development of industry and residential complexes forces trees to be cut down...
Its more important to make sure you replenish the environment regularly rather than wait till its too late..

I agree and this needs to be attended urgently - whereby where each tree that is cut down....another one should be inserted in it's place....the only issue around this is that they normally leave the stumps in the ground....which is great to keep the soil together but bad that nothing else can grow there....

recycling still has to be pushed as well...though just as much evergy can be used to recycle than just sawing down the trees....but at the moment it's all about preserving our way of life, despite what evergy has to go into doing this...
