Harsher Punishments for Animal Abusers
Does anyone else find it offensive and perhaps disgusting that after 2 years of imprisonment, Michael Vick is back to multi-million dollar contract deals and sponsors? Now some may say "he served his time/paid his debt" however his follies cost a number of dogs their lives. Most would consider human life of higher value than that of our fellow mammals, the majority of time I would agree with that sentiment. There are however exceptions, such as in the case of violent criminals, scam artists, etc. people who have only negative impacts on others lives or on society as a whole. In instances such as those I would readily trade the life of such an individual for that of animal. Vick lost only a brief moment in his career/life. A mere slap on the wrist as the cliche goes. He enjoyed the blood and cruelty involved in the dog fighting, as most who indulge in such abhorrent activity often do. It was not for the money so much as the simple pleasure he gained from watching two animals destroy eachother. A variation of the Roman Coliseum with its gladiators if you will. Such enjoyments are a sickness, a twisted illness that cause those infected to gather together and revel in another beings pain and suffering. The punishment should be equal to the crime.
