Re: Global Warming-Are we too late to reverse the course
Unfortunately there is a lot of scaremongering about global warming, partially because it is also a political hot potato.
As you may or may not realize, the planet has throughout the course of history gone through periods of warming and cooling. While pollution is certainly bad, it is not scientifically proven that the pollution has caused an increase in temperature. Rather it is a theory where both sides of the argument must be heard.
Governments have suppressed arguments against man-made global warming for one reason: money. That's right, they won't tell you that it's a THEORY that we're causing the global warming, that it might be a part of the Earths natural cycle after all, because if they do that, they can't lobby you with green taxes.
All I can really add is that further study needs to be done in this area, and if it is proven that we're causing it then we should do something to stop it. If it is a part of the natural cycle of the Earth then we should still look for less polluting ways of living because it's nice to be on a clean planet. In either case, it shouldn't have become a huge political issue used by governments to fleece money off their people.
If we are causing it, I don't think that it's too late to reverse it... all we need is massive numbers of fast growing trees planted to soak up the extra CO2, and a switchover to nuclear power. Expensive plan in it's outlay, but in the long term very beneficial. Nuclear reactors will produce lots and lots of clean electricity, and probably far cheaper than coal plants.
