Re: Is global warming real?
It's definitely true that the climate is changing, to suggest otherwise would be dishonest. I believe that the most important question is this: Is global warming caused by mankind or is it caused by a natural warming and cooling cycle of the planet as a whole?
Undoubtedly most people believe that it our putting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that is causing the global warming. Theoretically this does sound plausible, until you realize that other gases such as methane are actually stronger greenhouse gases than CO2.
I sometimes watch natural history documentaries, and I remember seeing one a couple of years back which said that the ice records show that there has always been a warming and cooling cycle of the earth.
The main problem I see is that global warming has become a political issue rather than just a scientific issue, therefore any evidence that suggests that what is happening might be a natural phenomenon is suppressed. Think about it, the government cannot lobby everyone with green taxes if manmade global warming is theoretical rather than supposedly proven fact.
I'm all for governments trying to cut pollution, that is admirable. What I am against is the suppression of the other side of the argument which threatens to put political orthodoxy around the subject on the chopping block. I don't know for certain which side of the argument is right, but I do think that both sides ought to be heard out equally.
