Do you sort out your rubbish/garbage?

Do you have the habit of sorting out your rubbish and grouping them according to whether they are recyclable or not? I know that in some countries, people have the habit of sorting their daily pile of rubbish into different piles and there are also different chutes available which they have to dispose off their rubbish into the different chutes accordingly.

What is the practice in your country?


For my country, we don't actually sort out our rubbish, but people will just try to collect those recyclable items like newspaper and sell them off to be recycled monthly.

In my country (Bulgaria) trash has always been something unimportant.
Our communal services were pretty bad in this aspect - garbage was not sorted, everything was just poured into a large container truck and unloaded somewhere near the city.
Now it goes the other way. We have specialized containers for paper, metal and plastic where people can sort their trash. People were very skeptical about them, but as time passed, they got used to divided garbage. So, nowadays we have some "green" way of dealing with garbage.

In the United States the sorting of rubbish varies by community. In some communities an individual can simply place all items into a single bin and take to a landfill. In other communities, it is required to separate out plastic, paper, metal and glass.

Where I live recycling is required, but we can put metal, plastic, and glass in the same bin. I also sort out most of the food waste too and put it in our yard for composting.

in many foreign countries people practice this sorting of the household garbage to prevent its ill effects on the environment and to the health.but in India hardly 10%of the people sort out the household garbage but the rest are still unaware.

In my country, there are some places that have separate trash bins. One for the organic, and the other for the non-organic. Its not a common thing to do in our society, but I sort out my garbage sometimes. My mother always do that and she always give us a good example.

I mostly just sort paper and plastic, but I am getting a sorted canister this month and I will start sorting everything, and taking it to the local recycling plant once a week.

I think little things like this are simple methods we can all use to help the environment. I just wish that we had a more national policy on recycling, that included mass pick ups to save on gas fumes.

yes, we do sort of sort out our rubbish or garbage. we took those biodegradable or food waste to our compost pit in the backyard, once its filled we cover it with soil and then we dug up another compost pit beside it. plastics and bottles go to the landfill or we sell it for recycling.

I try to do so but it is a very ugghhh kinda job
also the garbage collection at my place doesn't promote it
they are dumping it in two groups only
what i try to do at home is that i separate the kitchen (eatables ) waste for making a compost for manure
it saves money and is effective

I don't really sort out my rubbish/garbage. Well, I kinda do but I only organize them into recyclables and trash, nothing more intricate than that. The only reason why I do that is because the city picks up trash and the recycling differently. It's not much but at least I'm separating the two major ones!

yes in my country too, we don't have a practice of segregating the garbage but we just pile up and throw it in dust bin but one thing which i have seen these days that people some educated people are trying to use less polythene bags are they are not recycled. we also have the habit of giving off the recyclable material to special vendors so that they are recycled.

I didn't before, but since now there has been a new law that has been applied I'm sure I and a lot of others will start sorting our trash. Apparently yesterday my neighbor didn't do this and some kind of undercover trash inspector or something caught him and slapped him with a huge fine, so I guess it's sorting trash time!

I only do it because where I live it's illegal not to. Also, it's not too much to ask for since all they want is it in a separate bin, so no problem really..
