Hi Rana, I am an African and yes we face so many problems but we can put most of these problems together to form one word "poverty". Poverty isn't unique to Africa. There is poverty even in the richest country on earth but since you are writing about Africa, you need to concentrate on the causes of poverty in Africa. You can write several books about the causes of poverty in Africa because there are several of them to mention. There are many causes but since you are doing a school project and not book writing, I will give you a few of the most important causes of poverty you can concentrate on.
Right now there is a severe drought and famine in northern Kenya. Rain has refused to fall and the land has gone dry. Animals are dying because there is no grass for them to graze on. Children are out of school because they have to follow their mothers and walk miles upon miles in search of water. Drought is a natural cause and there is very little you can do about it especially on the desert. Not just drought. A few years ago flooding destroyed more than half of state farms in Kenya. Flooding is also a natural cause and there is very little you can do about it. To sum this up, unpredicted weather patterns/natural causes. You can write a whole book about this.
Corruption is another major reason why Africa remains poor. There is corruption in every country but the level of corruption in third world countries especially countries in Africa is just insanely high to the point where only a selected few benefit from the national cake while the poor goes hungry with nothing at all to eat. You can write several books about corruption in Africa.
You can also concentrate on HIV/AIDS in Africa. HIV has destroyed several homes and orphaned several children not just in Africa but also in places like India. You can write several books about HIV and AIDS
Poor leadership and governance goes with corruption. Africans have poor leaders who don't care about us. Some of them come to power by force through coups and there is very little we can do about it. Not that we don't know how to choose good leaders. Just that all of them are the same. very corrupt and wicked-minded people. You can write several books about poor leadership in Africa.
You can concentrate on any of the above issues. Good luck with your project.
